Code Of Conduct

  • No smoking is permitted inside the clubhouse. 
  • No member, who is not a committee member is permitted behind the bar for any reason. A member who is requested to assist behind the bar is permitted to do so.
  • No member, who is not a committee member is permiited to record entries in the book.
  • Members are encouraged to use acceptable language upon entering the club premises, especially around women and children
  • No member registered with wcc is permitted to play for another cricket club. Immediate suspension and fines will be implemented, in addition to the relevant sanctioning from wpca – which includes point deductions for the team played for. 
  • No alcohol may be brought onto wynberg cricket club premises, alcohol has to be bought from the clubhouse.
  • No alcohol may be consumed during matches, no player will be allowed to represent wynberg cricket club while under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. 
  • Players will wear standard white cricket trousers and playing top, preferably a wynberg cricket club playing top. 
  • The wynberg cricket club baggy or white, blue, navy blue caps to be worn for matches. 
  • Verbal abuse of members or non-members, opposition or umpires will not be tolerated.
  • No incitement or provocation of other members, non-members, opposition, or umpires will be tolerated. 
  • No abuse of club facilities or cricket equipment will be tolerated. Full compensation for replacement or repairs will be required. 
  • Players will respect the committee members’, captains’ and umpires’ decisions at all times. 

Selection Criteria

 

  • Players who make practice both tuesday & thursday may get preference for selection where applicable
  • If you cannot make practice, you are to contact one of your selectors via whatsapp, sms or phone call. Do not relay the message to other players – selectors will not consider apologies unless it comes directly from you.
  • Selectors will acknowledge your apology, but this will not guarantee your selection as the selection committee will make the final decision.
  • If you have a problem attending practices due to work commitments, then you are to relay this information to your selectors who will consider your circumstances. 
  • Selections will take place at 18h30 on thursdays so all apologies must be made before 18h30. 
  • All captains and selectors will attend the selections of all teams.
  • No pay no play comes into effect 1 jan 2023 – the selection committee will not be allowed to select any player who has not settled subs in full. If the committee decides to allow payment arrangements after 1 jan 2023, then these players will be eligible to play, but players who have settled subs in full will get preference at selections.

Liability and Indemnity

 

  • I/we recognize the possibility of physical injury associated with cricket and voluntarily accept and assume this risk as part of my/my child’s playing and practicing cricket with the wynberg cricket club. 
  • I/we hereby release, discharge, and otherwise indemnify wynberg cricket club their sponsors and its affiliated organizations, facilities, and the employees and or volunteers and associated personnel of these organizations, against any claim by or on my behalf, as a result of my/my child’s participation in cricket activities organized and conducted by wynberg cricket club. 
  • I/we also understand and accept that registration with wynberg cricket club does not include any accident or medical insurance.
